The obverse of this stunning
Un Peso
contains the legend
ESTADOS UNIDOS
MEXICANOS and the
numbers
0.720, designating the coin
as 72% pure silver.
The obverse also features a relief of the
Mexican
coat
of arms depicting an eagle
devouring a s
nake while perched on a
prickly pear
cactus.
A wreath containing oak and
laurel branches is pictured on both
sides of the coin.
The reverse of the coin pictures the
liberty
cap with extending rays. The cap is
inscribed
"LIBERTAD." The lettered edge
of the coin is
inscribed with the motto
INDEPENDENCIA Y LIBERTAD.
The coin pictured is the coin
