  • Condition: Some tarnish/staining on back. Dial has staining in spots and is in need of cleaning. All in all, good condition considering over 100 year age. It doesn't currently work. (It's a decorative item to us). I've had it for 30 years and never had it serviced.

    Description

    A good antique gilt brass pocket barometer altimeter by Negretti & Zambra London. circa 1900-1909. I've had it 30 years, but never had it serviced and it's not currently functioning. It does nothing when we put it in a bag filled with air and press on the bag.
    Dimensions 1 7/8 inches in diameter by 11/16 inches tall approximately
    Pocket barometer having 1¾” silvered and struck twin-scale dial, the outer altitude scale with a range from 0–10,000ft, the inner calibrated in inches of mercury with a range from 21–31, the upper portion marked with standard meteorological wording "Rain," "Change" and "Fair," and "Compensated," the lower portion with the maker's name "Negretti & Zambra, London,". Fine blued steel pointer set beneath a beveled glass maintained within a rotating bezel with associated altitude scale.
    Negretti & Zambra patented the weather forecaster to allow both professional and the man on the street to predict weather with more thsn 80% accuracy. Amazing piece by an amazing company.
