This auction is for
an
antique sterling silver
famous cupid
thimble
made by Simons Bros. of Philadelphia
. The wide band has tiny cupids carrying floral garlands and is marked
"Sterling", "RK",  and the size (11)
. I was not able to fined Simons Brothers shield.
This thimble is shown on p. 88 (plate 11) of Gay Ann Rogers' book American Silver Thimbles.
It
measures 7/8" (2 cm) by  11
/16" (1.5 cm)
.
Very nice old thimble in
good condition with some age and wear, slightly out of round, with few dents, with No holes.
Great addition to any collection.
