Description
Beautiful Aesthetic movement Transferware square serving Tureen marked Spray, T. Furnival & Sons. This rare earthenware covered dish features a brown transfer central motif of a floral scene, thus it's name "Spray".
It was made in England by T. Furnival & Sons circa 1870-1890.
The T. Furnival and Sons mark was in use from the 1870’s until about 1890. This will make a beautiful addition to the set or as a stand alone piece on a lovely table or hutch for display. This is in great condition with only one small darkened chip in the top ridge or the inside, not see when lid is on and not greatly noticeable even when it's not. Inside of tureen shows some small darkened age spots on bottom, like little pitting that are brown from age. There is a small area of pitting and discoloration on one side in floral area, and minor wear and discoloration on edges, but for the most part they feel smooth and not though the glazing. Please look closely at all the photos so you will know what you are getting. This tureen measures approximately 7 1/2" X 9" (because of handles) and 6" tall with lid on.
