Bradley Tyler Johnson served as a brigadier general in the Confederate Army. He spent the war’s final months as commandant of the prison at Salisbury, North Carolina. Post-war he returned to the law.
Francis L. Smith was one of Alexandria’s wealthiest and most influential lawyers. Among his clients after the war was Robert E. Lee.
William F. Marbury (1818-1900) of Alexandria, whose business involved the Orange & Manassas Railroad, the Virginia Midland Railroad, and the Southern Railroad.
