The Millennium Collection is a project designed by the Bank of Mexico to commemorate the arrival of the year 2000 and the transition to the Third Millennium. For this, he organized a contest on January 4, 1999, where he invited the artistic community to participate in the First National Numismatic Design Contest. As a result of this contest, the winning designs, corresponding to the three competed themes, were used as motifs for the three 1-ounce coins, while the fourth coin was designed by the Mexican Mint.

It is important to note that the issuance of these coins is limited, only 75,000 coins of each one of them will be minted, of which 10,000 collections will be sold in their mahogany case and the rest individually on acrylic pedestals.
