Description
You are buying one Granberg Chainsaw Chain Repair chain breaker Tool.Made for Break and Repair any size or brand of chain at any location on the go, completely adjustable for any size chain.
If you don't own one of these we just ask why not? You have a spare tire on your truck don't you? A chain that fits today may stretch and not fit tomorrow when you desperately need it.
This is factory new.
A word about Chains and saws:
Assuming you have the correct chain you may need to lengthen or shorten a chain EVEN a chain that fit yesterday but somehow does NOT fit the same saw today. Chains stretch and bars wear down. what fits today may not tomorrow. If you're going to own chainsaws do yourself a big favor and buy a chain breaker. If you buy a cheap breaker it will just sour you to what is a very easy task. Cheap breakers won't hold the chain correctly and can only be used by someone with lots of experience, they will only bend and ruin your chain, you have been warned. Please note, It takes very little to keep a link on a chain, experienced timber felllers often prefer used tie straps because they take little effort to install and they never come off as there is no sideways pressure against them even on big saws. While we use them for our chain in the field we are not recommending used straps just saying how easy it is to mend them and hold them in place, any hammer and cheap anvil will do.
If you're going to buy chains and bars online you're going to have trouble if you don't know basic information. When you buy chain you must understand your GAUGE and PITCH size before ordering. Sprocket or clutch drums can be bought to convert your saw run different size chains. DO NOT go online and buy saw chain without knowing what PITCH and GAUGE chain you have, the model of saw is totally immaterial.
Saw chain is not proprietary to any make or model of saw, that means any saw CAN run any chain,
regardless of whether it may or may not be advisable to do so any chain can be made to fit any saw.
A 16 inch long chain will not fit every 16 inch bar, that's why they are sold by driver length and not sold by the inch. The driver is the part of the chain the fits into the sprocket thus driving the chain. The thickness of those driver is the GAUGE and will be either .043 - .050 - .058 - 063 - .080 A bar and chain that are matched will NOT fit every chain saw regardless if it has the correct sprocket. Saws differ from each other and you may need to cut and mend the chain length to make it fit. (assuming you have the correct sprocket)
Chain PITCH is the size of the cutters and will come in: 1/4 - .325 - 3/8 - 404 - 1/2 if your reading this you will never use 1/2 and very likely never use 404. Pitch is confusing because not all 3/8 is the same size but will measure out the same length when counting out drivers.
Chainsaw bar length is NOT proprietary to any make or model of saw. This is one of the biggest myths going and perpetuated by the saw manufactures who wish to sell saws by bar length, any saw can run any length bar you think works for you.
This is not an exhaustive paper on the subject but will help the novice put things in perspective.
