    This is an absolutely beautiful Jacob Furnival Ironstone tureen. It is a walled octagon shape. It is a bold form with arched handles ,the finials are decorative rings or hugh pods or buds. On this piece it is the latter. This piece dates to 1850.
    Jacob Furnival had a pottery on Elder Road from 1845-1870 in Cobridge , England. A lot of his pieces are marked JF and the potters mark reads Honi soit qui Mal y Pense which means Evil to him who thinks evil and Dieu et mon droit meaning God is my right.
    This piece is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. The inside has a few little marks in the glaze that are discolored. There is some crazing and a little discoloration on the handles.
