    Large 19th Century Meissen Blue Onion Porcelain Tureen
    We are offering...
    A magnificent 19th century Ernst Teichert Meissen porcelain tureen.
    This large tureen is in the blue onion pattern with white porcelain background. The lid of the piece has a gorgeous twisted floral handle and two ornate leaf handles on each side of the base. The piece is marked on the bottom with the Teichert Meissen arrow mark as well as with a Colln. Meissen mark.
    This is a large beautiful heavy quality piece. The tureen can still be used.
    In the town of Meissen, the factory set up by Carl Teichert, ventured into producing porcelain in 1879. His brother Ernst Teichert first worked for the factory but started a porcelain factory in Cologne himself.
    The company owned the rights to call their wares after the town that was already synonymous with porcelain for two centuries.
