Toshinobu Onosato
He was born in Nagano Prefecture in 1912. His real name is Toshinobu ONOSATO.
1931: Joined Seifu TSUDA's Western Painting School.
In 1935, his work was selected for Nika ten. Organized the avant-garde group "Black Western Art Exhibition."
1938: Became a member of the Free Artists Association (until 56).
In 1942, he served in the Pacific War, and when the war ended in Manchuria, he was detained in Siberia.
In 1948, he returned to Japan. He resumed production at his studio in Kiryu City.
In 1964, he represented Japan at the Venice Biennale. (66)
He died in 1986. He died at the age of 74.
1992: The Onosato Toshinobu Museum was established in Kiryu City. Before and after World War II, he continued to pursue avant-garde art with his best friend Eikyu.
