Carl is of Thompson descent and is a self taught artist. His styling can be described as Pacific Northwest Native Indian Art Style. The Pacific Northwest Coast ranges from southern Alaska, British Columbia & the Northern tip of Washington State. Four art styles can be visual referenced through art styles within the Pacific Northwest Coast & this includes 15 main native territories. The North Coast art style includes Tlingit , Tahltan , Nisga's , Kaigani Haida , Haida , Gitksan Coast Tsimshian , Haisla , Nuxalk and Heiltsuk (from Vancouver Island to Alaska including the Queen Charlottes). The Mid Coast art style includes Kwakwawaka'wakw & Oweekeno (Northern Vancouver Island & opposing mainland.) The West Coast art style includes the Nuu-Chah-Nulth and Makah (Southwest Coast of Vancouver Island). The South Coast art style is primarily Salish (Southeast Coast of Vancouver Island & Vancouver area.)
