ABOUT THE ARTIST: John Romita Sr. was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and he graduated from Manhattan's School of Industrial Art in 1947. Romita entered the comics industry in 1949 on the series Famous Funnies. A friend from high school offered him a position at Marvel’s forerunner Timely Comic. It is here where he met editor-in-chief and art director Stan Lee and ghost-penciled for Zakarin on Trojan Comics’ Crime Smashers and other titles.
