Tascam MS-16 1" 16 Track Recorder in Mint Condition.
This is a Tascam MS-16 1" 16-track recorder in Mint condition. Everything is functional - including all 16 meters and their bulbs.
It includes the deck, its stand a takeup reel, a cloth dustcover (handmade by the previous owner) and the autolocator (with a stand of its own).
I bought it fully functional from a gentleman in Temecula, CA, where he used it in his home (non-smoking studio). I drove out a U-Haul and personally brought it back to Arizona to be sure it would arrive intact. It's lived in my studio ever since.
I haven't really used it anywhere near as much as I thought I might. The last time I fully tested it was when I installed a patchbay for it (with XLR<->1/4" balanced snakes for each in and each out). It's already plugged in and configured - I'd put it through its paces again before selling it.
I AM LISTING FOR PICK-UP ONLY, but it can be shipped. My recommendation is if it's feasible come and get it yourself. These units are really sturdy, but it's still a 50-year-old piece of electronics. If you want it shipped, it will likely need to go freight given its size and weight (which can be colloquially described as "big" and "heavy"). It's a bit lighter than the corresponding 24 tracks, but not much, and its footprint is nearly the same.
It's an excellent piece of machinery that's been well cared for since it was new. I was planning on selling the snakes separately (and maybe the patch bay), but if you're interested in a package deal we can talk.
I also have in my collection of odd things an MS-16 interface to the Fostex 4030 synchronization system. It's untested. I'll throw it in to sweeten the deal.
I also have a couple of unused 1" 16-track reels around to get you started.
